Meet Adoptable Cats and Dogs in Sunrise Beach, MO

**Ozarks Kat and K9 | Giving Homeless Pets a Second Chance**

Every dog deserves a loving home, and every cat deserves a place to curl up and feel safe. At Ozarks Kat and K9 Shelter in Sunrise Beach, Missouri, helping animals find that sense of belonging is what it's all about.

Ozarks Kat and K9 (OKK9) is a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter dedicated to rescuing, caring for, and finding homes for abandoned, stray, lost, and surrendered dogs and cats throughout the Lake of the Ozarks area.

Originally established in 1986 as the Society for the Treatment of Abandoned and Fractured Friends (S.T.A.F.F.), the organization has spent decades giving animals a second chance while helping local pet owners care for their furry family members.

**Finding Forever Homes, One Paw at a Time**

Whether you're looking for a playful puppy, a laid-back senior dog, or a cat to keep you company, Ozarks Kat and K9 helps connect adoptable animals with families ready to welcome them home.

Before adoption, animals receive veterinary evaluations and appropriate medical care, including vaccinations, parasite prevention, spaying or neutering, and microchipping.

The shelter uses an application process to help match each pet with a suitable home. Applications generally take 24 to 48 hours to process, and same-day adoptions are not offered.

**Helping Pets Stay With the Families Who Love Them**

Ozarks Kat and K9 understands that caring for an animal can sometimes become financially challenging. That's why its mission goes beyond sheltering and adoption.

The organization offers community assistance programs, including:

- Low-income spay and neuter assistance vouchers
- The OKK9 Chow Corral Pet Food Pantry
- Emergency veterinary bill assistance
- Periodic low-cost vaccination and microchipping clinics
- Education promoting responsible pet ownership

These programs help Lake-area families access resources to keep their pets healthy and at home.

**Shop for a Cause at the OKK9 Thrift Store**

Here's a way to help animals without adopting another pet!

Located next to the shelter, the Ozarks Kat and K9 Thrift Store turns donated items and secondhand treasures into funding for animal care.

Shoppers can browse clothing, furniture, household goods, books, decorations, and other donated merchandise, knowing their purchases help support the shelter's mission.

The thrift store is one of the organization's primary funding sources. Because OKK9 does not receive city or state funding, community donations, thrift store purchases, and grants play an important role in keeping its programs running.

**Small Acts of Kindness Make a Big Difference**

There are plenty of ways to support Ozarks Kat and K9, even if you're not ready to adopt.

Volunteers help care for animals, walk dogs, assist with cleaning, work at adoption events, and organize merchandise at the thrift store. The shelter also welcomes foster families who can provide temporary care for animals needing extra attention before adoption.

Monetary donations, pet food, litter, blankets, cleaning supplies, and other wishlist items are also appreciated.

Whether you donate, volunteer, foster, adopt, or simply stop by the thrift store, you're helping give local animals the care and opportunities they deserve.
