About Lake of the Ozarks Idiots Club
**Helping Lake-Area Kids, One Good Deed at a Time!**
Don't let the name fool you! The Lake of the Ozarks Idiots Club is a group of people with big hearts and one important mission: helping local children in need.
Founded in 2014 by retired educators Denny and Danna Hiner, the Idiots Club is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to making sure children throughout Lake of the Ozarks have the resources and opportunities they deserve.
**A Funny Name With a Serious Mission**
Why call themselves the Idiots Club? Simple. The name gets your attention, but the mission is what captures your heart!
When they're out raising money, they're the Idiots Club. When they're delivering assistance to local schools, they're known as the Jesters of Goodwill.
Their goal is to help children living in poverty feel confident, included, and prepared to succeed, both in and out of the classroom.
**Making a Difference Where It Matters**
Sometimes something as simple as a new pair of shoes, a winter coat, or the chance to join a school activity can make a world of difference.
The Idiots Club helps provide:
- New clothing, shoes, and hygiene products
- Weekend food through Buddy Packs
- School supplies and educational materials
- Sports equipment and participation fees
- Band instruments and school activity expenses
- Dental care, eyeglasses, and other essential needs
- Dual-credit college scholarships for high school students
The organization works directly with school professionals and community agencies to identify needs while protecting the privacy and dignity of the children receiving assistance.
**Local Kids. Local Impact.**
The Idiots Club supports children across five Lake-area school districts: Camdenton, Climax Springs, Eldon, Macks Creek, and School of the Osage.
And their impact continues to grow! As of May 2026, the organization reported more than 73,000 instances of assistance to children and over $1.8 million spent helping local youth since its founding.
Every donation, fundraiser, and membership helps create more opportunities for children right here at the Lake.
**Be an Idiot. Do Something Good!**
Here's the fun part: Anyone can be an Idiot!
Supporters can join the club by purchasing an annual membership, shopping for Idiots Club merchandise, making a donation, or participating in local fundraising events.
The organization is run entirely by volunteers, so community involvement is what keeps its mission moving forward.
Whether you're donating a few dollars, buying a T-shirt, or helping spread the word, you're contributing to something that can make a real difference in a child's life.

This is a wonderful place. The young people they hire are extraordinarily calm and patient even with the most difficult campers.

My now adult son has been attending this camp for years. He absolutely loves it. He talks about camp all year long. The only problem I’ve had was one of the staff members used his phone fast charger to charge their phone. They never returned it and it was brand new. I allowed him to bring his phone because he love his music. The staff member had left before I got there to pick my...
